다음은 트럼프 대통령의 제72회 유엔총회에서의 기조 연설 전문이다.

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Mr. Secretary General, Mr. President, world leaders, and distinguished delegates:  Welcome to New York.  It is a profound honor to stand here in my home city, as a representative of the American people, to address the people of the world. 트럼프 대통령: 사무총장과 각 나라의 대통령과 지도자들이 뉴욕에 오신 것을 환영합니다. 저의 고향인 이곳에 서서 미국 국민의 대표자로서 전세계 사람들에게 연설할 수 있는 것은 대단한 영광입니다.

As millions of our citizens continue to suffer the effects of the devastating hurricanes that have struck our country, I want to begin by expressing my appreciation to every leader in this room who has offered assistance and aid.  The American people are strong and resilient, and they will emerge from these hardships more determined than ever before. 저희 수백만 시민들이 미국을 강타한 엄청난 허리케인의 영향을 받고있는 가운데 저희에게 도움을 준 이곳에 계신 모든 지도자들에게 감사를 드립니다. 미국민은 강하고 어떠한 환경에도 굴하지 않으며, 그 어느 때보다 더 확고함은 이러한 고난을 통해 드러납니다.

Fortunately, the United States has done very well since Election Day last November 8th.  The stock market is at an all-time high -- a record.  Unemployment is at its lowest level in 16 years, and because of our regulatory and other reforms, we have more people working in the United States today than ever before.  Companies are moving back, creating job growth the likes of which our country has not seen in a very long time.  And it has just been announced that we will be spending almost $700 billion on our military and defense.  다행히도 미국은 지난 11월8일에 있었던 선거일 이후 매우 잘 해왔습니다. 주식 시장은 사상 최고를 기록하고 있습니다. 실업은 16년만에 가장 낮은 수준이며 규제 및 기타 개혁으로 인해 오늘날 미국에서 일하는 사람이 늘고 있습니다. 회사들은 아주 오랫동안 우리 나라가 보지 못했던 일자리 창출을 위해 뒤로 물러나고 있습니다. 그리고 우리 군대와 국방비로 거의 7천억 달러를 지출할 것이라고 발표했습니다.

Our military will soon be the strongest it has ever been.  For more than 70 years, in times of war and peace, the leaders of nations, movements, and religions have stood before this assembly.  Like them, I intend to address some of the very serious threats before us today but also the enormous potential waiting to be unleashed.  우리 군대는 곧 가장 강력한 군대가 될 것입니다. 70년이 넘는 기간 동안 전쟁과 평화의 시대에 국가, 운동, 종교 지도자들이 이 집회 전에 서 있었습니다. 그들과 마찬가지로, 저는 오늘날 우리 앞에 놓여있는 심각한 위협들에 대해서도 언급할 것이지만 또한 촉발될 것을 기다리는 엄청난 잠재력에 대해서도 언급할 것입니다.

We live in a time of extraordinary opportunity.  Breakthroughs in science, technology, and medicine are curing illnesses and solving problems that prior generations thought impossible to solve. 우리는 특별한 기회의 시간 속에 살고 있습니다. 과학, 기술 및 의학의 돌파구는 질병을 치료하고 이전 세대가 해결할 수 없다고 생각했던 문제를 해결합니다.

But each day also brings news of growing dangers that threaten everything we cherish and value.  Terrorists and extremists have gathered strength and spread to every region of the planet.  Rogue regimes represented in this body not only support terrorists but threaten other nations and their own people with the most destructive weapons known to humanity.  그러나 매일마다 우리가 사랑하고 소중하게 여기는 모든 것을 위협하는 위험한 것들이 증가한다는 소식도 가져옵니다. 테러리스트들과 극단주의자들은 힘을 모아 지구의 모든 지역으로 퍼졌습니다. 흉포한 정권은 테러리스트를 지원할뿐만 아니라, 인류에 알려진 가장 파괴적인 무기로 다른 국가와 국민을 위협하고 있습니다. 

Authority and authoritarian powers seek to collapse the values, the systems, and alliances that prevented conflict and tilted the world toward freedom since World War II.  당국과 독재 세력들은 제2차 세계대전 이후 분쟁을 예방하고 세계가 자유를 향하여 기울어진 가치관과 제도 및 동맹을 붕괴시키고자 노력하고 있습니다. 

International criminal networks traffic drugs, weapons, people; force dislocation and mass migration; threaten our borders; and new forms of aggression exploit technology to menace our citizens. 국제 범죄 네트워크는 침략의 새로운 형태인 기술을 이용하여 마약과 무기 및 사람들을 강제적으로 전위 및 대량 이동 거래를 통하여 국경을 위협하고 있습니다. 

To put it simply, we meet at a time of both of immense promise and great peril.  It is entirely up to us whether we lift the world to new heights, or let it fall into a.  간단히 말해서 우리는 엄청난 약속과 큰 위험의 시기를 접하고 있습니다. 우리가 세상을 새로운 높이로 올리거나 황폐한 계곡에 빠지게 하는 것은 전적으로 우리에게 달려있습니다.

This institution was founded in the aftermath of two world wars to help shape this better future.  It was based on the vision that diverse nations could cooperate to protect their sovereignty, preserve their security, and promote their prosperity. 이 기관은 더 나은 미래를 만들기 위하여 도움이 되고자 두 번의 세계 대전의 여파로 설립되었습니다. 그것은 여러 나라가 주권을 보호하고 안전을 지키며 번영을 도모하기 위하여 협력할 수 있다는 비전에 기반을 두고 있습니다.

It was in the same period, exactly 70 years ago, that the United States developed the Marshall Plan to help restore Europe.  Those three beautiful pillars -- they’re pillars of peace, sovereignty, security, and prosperity. 정확하게 70년 전 같은 기간에 미국은 유럽을 복원하는데 도움이 되는 마샬 플랜을 개발했습니다. 이 세 가지 아름다운 기둥은 평화, 주권, 안보 및 번영의 기둥입니다.

The Marshall Plan was built on the noble idea that the whole world is safer when nations are strong, independent, and free.  As President Truman said in his message to Congress at that time, “Our support of European recovery is in full accord with our support of the United Nations.  The success of the United Nations depends upon the independent strength of its members.” 마샬 플랜(Marshall Plan)은 나라들이 강하고 독립적이며 자유로울 때 전 세계가 더 안전하다는 고귀한 생각에 의해 세워졌습니다. 트루먼 대통령이 당시 의회에 보낸 메시지에서 다음과 같이 말했듯이 말입니다. "유럽의 회복에 대한 우리의 지지는 유엔에 대한 우리의 지지와 완전히 일치합니다. 유엔의 성공은 회원국의 독립적인 힘에 달려있습니다."

To overcome the perils of the present and to achieve the promise of the future, we must begin with the wisdom of the past.  Our success depends on a coalition of strong and independent nations that embrace their sovereignty to promote security, prosperity, and peace for themselves and for the world. 현재의 위험을 극복하고 미래의 약속을 성취하기 위해서는 과거의 지혜로 시작해야 합니다. 우리의 성공은 우리 자신들과 세계를 위한 안보와 번영 및 평화를 증진하기 위하여 주권을 포용하는 강건하고 독립적인 국가 연합에 달려있습니다.

We do not expect diverse countries to share the same cultures, traditions, or even systems of government.  But we do expect all nations to uphold these two core sovereign duties:  to respect the interests of their own people and the rights of every other sovereign nation.  This is the beautiful vision of this institution, and this is foundation for cooperation and success. 우리는 다양한 국가가 동일한 문화와 전통 또는 정부 제도를 공유할 것으로 기대하지는 않습니다. 그러나 우리는 모든 국가가 자국민의 유익과 모든 다른 국가의 권리를 존중해야 한다는 이 두 가지 핵심 주권을 유지할 것을 기대합니다. 이는 이 기관의 아름다운 비전이며, 이것이 협력과 성공의 기반입니다.

Strong, sovereign nations let diverse countries with different values, different cultures, and different dreams not just coexist, but work side by side on the basis of mutual respect. 강력한 주권을 가진 국가들은 서로 다른 가치와 문화와 다른 꿈을 지닌 다양한 국가들이 공존할 뿐만 아니라 상호 존경을 바탕으로 함께 일해야 합니다.  

Strong, sovereign nations let their people take ownership of the future and control their own destiny. And strong, sovereign nations allow individuals to flourish in the fullness of the life intended by God. 강한 주권 국가들은 국민들이 미래에 대한 소유권을 갖게 하고, 자신의 운명을 통제하게 합니다. 그리고 강한 주권 국가는 사람들이 하나님을 위한 충만한 삶으로 번성하도록 허락합니다.

In America, we do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to watch.  This week gives our country a special reason to take pride in that example.  We are celebrating the 230th anniversary of our beloved Constitution -- the oldest constitution still in use in the world today. 미국에서 우리는 삶의 방식을 다른 사람에게 강요하려는 것이 아니라, 모든 사람들이 볼 수 있는 모범이 되기 위하여 노력합니다. 이번주에 우리나라는 그 사례에 자부심을 가질만한 특별한 이유가 있습니다. 우리는 사랑하는 헌법 제230주년을 축하합니다. 오늘날에도 여전히 세계에서 사용되는 가장 오래된 헌법입니다.

This timeless document has been the foundation of peace, prosperity, and freedom for the Americans and for countless millions around the globe whose own countries have found inspiration in its respect for human nature, human dignity, and the rule of law. 이 시대를 초월한 이 문서는 미국인들과 인간의 본성, 인간의 존엄성 및 법치주의에 대한 존중에서 영감을 얻은 전세계 수없이 많은 사람들을 위한 평화와 번영과 자유의 토대가 되었습니다.

The greatest in the United States Constitution is its first three beautiful words.  They are:  “We the people.” 미국 헌법에서 가장 위대한 것은 처음 세 아름다운 단어입니다. 그것은 “We the people.”(우리 그 국민) 입니다.

Generations of Americans have sacrificed to maintain the promise of those words, the promise of our country, and of our great history.  In America, the people govern, the people rule, and the people are sovereign.  I was elected not to take power, but to give power to the American people, where it belongs. 미국인의 세대는 그 말의 약속, 우리 나라의 약속 및 우리의 위대한 역사를 유지하기 위하여 희생되었습니다. 미국에서는 사람들이 통치하고 사람들이 주권자입니다. 저는 권력을 가지지 않고 미국 국민에게 권력을 부여하기 위하여 선택되었습니다.

In foreign affairs, we are renewing this founding principle of sovereignty.  Our government's first duty is to its people, to our citizens -- to serve their needs, to ensure their safety, to preserve their rights, and to defend their values. 외교 문제에서 우리는 주권의 설립 원칙을 새롭게 하고 있습니다. 우리 정부의 첫 번째 임무는 국민과 시민들의 요구, 안전 보장, 권리 보존 및 가치 보호입니다.

As President of the United States, I will always put America first, just like you, as the leaders of your countries will always, and should always, put your countries first.  (Applause.) 여러분 나라의 지도자들이 항상 여러분의 나라를 첫번째로 여기듯이 미국 대통령으로서 저는 항상 미국을 첫번째로 이끌어갈 것입니다. (박수)

All responsible leaders have an obligation to serve their own citizens, and the nation-state remains the best vehicle for elevating the human condition.  모든 책임있는 지도자는 자기 국민에게 봉사해야 할 의무가 있으며, 단일 민족 국가는 인간의 상태를 높이기 위한 최고의 수단으로 남아있습니다.

But making a better life for our people also requires us to work together in close harmony and unity to create a more safe and peaceful future for all people. 그러나 우리 국민을 위한 더 나은 삶을 만들기 위해서는 모든 사람들에게 보다 안전하고 평화로운 미래를 만들기 위해 긴밀한 조화와 단결로 함께 일해야 합니다.

The United States will forever be a great friend to the world, and especially to its allies.  But we can no longer be taken advantage of, or enter into a one-sided deal where the United States gets nothing in return.  As long as I hold this office, I will defend America’s interests above all else. 미국은 영원히 세계와 좋은 친구가 될 것이며, 특히 동맹국들에게 좋은 친구가 될 것입니다. 그러나 우리는 미국에 아무 유익이 없이 더 이상 미국을 활용하거나 일방적인 협상을 시작할 수 없습니다. 제가 이곳에 있는 한, 저는 무엇보다 미국의 유익을 방어할 것입니다.

But in fulfilling our obligations to our own nations, we also realize that it’s in everyone’s interest to seek a future where all nations can be sovereign, prosperous, and secure. 그러나 우리 자신의 나라에 대한 우리의 의무를 수행함에 있어, 모든 국가가 주권적이고 번영하며 안전할 수 있는 미래를 추구하는 것이 모든 사람의 관심사임을 깨닫게 됩니다.

America does more than speak for the values expressed in the United Nations Charter.  Our citizens have paid the ultimate price to defend our freedom and the freedom of many nations represented in this great hall.  America's devotion is measured on the battlefields where our young men and women have fought and sacrificed alongside of our allies, from the beaches of Europe to the deserts of the Middle East to the jungles of Asia. 미국은 유엔 헌장에 표현된 가치를 말하는 것 이상의 역할을 합니다. 우리 시민들은 이 큰 홀에서 대표하는 많은 국가의 자유와 자유를 지키기 위해 궁극적인 대가를 지불했습니다. 미국의 헌신은 유럽의 해변에서부터 중동의 사막, 아시아의 정글까지 우리 동맹자들과 함께 싸우고 희생한 전쟁터에서 측정됩니다

It is an eternal credit to the American character that even after we and our allies emerged victorious from the bloodiest war in history, we did not seek territorial expansion, or attempt to oppose and impose our way of life on others.  Instead, we helped build institutions such as this one to defend the sovereignty, security, and prosperity for all. 우리와 우리 동맹국이 역사상 가장 치열한 전쟁에서 승리 한 후에도 우리는 영토 확장을 추구하지 않았으며, 우리의 삶의 방식을 다른 사람들에게 강요하려고 시도하지 않았다는 것이 미국인의 영원한 신용입니다. 그 대신, 우리는 주(主), 안보, 모든 이들을 위한 번영을 지키기 위해 이 기관과 같은 기관을 설립하는 것을 도왔습니다

For the diverse nations of the world, this is our hope.  We want harmony and friendship, not conflict and strife.  We are guided by outcomes, not ideology.  We have a policy of principled realism, rooted in shared goals, interests, and values. 세계의 다양한 국가들에게 이것은 우리의 희망입니다. 우리는 갈등과 투쟁이 아닌 조화와 우정을 원합니다. 우리는 이념이 아니라 결과로 인도됩니다. 우리는 공통의 목표, 이익 및 가치에 뿌리를 둔 원리주의 리얼리즘의 정책을 가지고 있습니다

That realism forces us to confront a question facing every leader and nation in this room.  It is a question we cannot escape or avoid.  We will slide down the path of complacency, numb to the challenges, threats, and even wars that we face.  Or do we have enough strength and pride to confront those dangers today, so that our citizens can enjoy peace and prosperity tomorrow? 이 사실주의는 우리가 이 곳에 있는 모든 지도자와 국가가 직면한 문제에 직면하도록 강요합니다. 이는, 우리가 도피하거나 피할 수 없는 질문입니다. 우리는 우리가 직면하고 있는 도전, 위협, 전쟁까지 감추지 않고 자만의 길을 걷게 될 것입니다. 아니면, 오늘 우리는 시민들이 내일 평화와 번영을 누릴 수 있도록 이러한 위험에 직면할 충분한 힘과 자부심을 가지고 있습니까?

If we desire to lift up our citizens, if we aspire to the approval of history, then we must fulfill our sovereign duties to the people we faithfully represent.  We must protect our nations, their interests, and their futures.  We must reject threats to sovereignty, from the Ukraine to the South China Sea.  We must uphold respect for law, respect for borders, and respect for culture, and the peaceful engagement these allow.  And just as the founders of this body intended, we must work together and confront together those who threaten us with chaos, turmoil, and terror. 우리가 시민들을 들어 올리기를 원한다면, 역사의 승인을 갈망한다면, 우리는 우리가 충실히 대표하는 사람들에게 주권적 의무를 이행해야 합니다. 우리는 국가와 그들의 이익과 미래를 보호해야 합니다. 우리는 우크라이나에서 남중국해까지 주권에 대한 위협을 거부해야 합니다. 우리는 법에 대한 존중, 국경에 대한 존중, 그리고 문화에 대한 존중, 그리고 이들이 허용하는 평화적 참여를 지켜야 합니다. 그리고 우리는 혼란과 소란, 그리고 테러로 우리를 위협하는 사람들을 함께 만나고 대결해야 합니다

The scourge of our planet today is a small group of rogue regimes that violate every principle on which the United Nations is based.  They respect neither their own citizens nor the sovereign rights of their countries. 오늘 우리 행성의 채찍은 유엔이 기반을 두고있는 모든 원칙을 위반하는 작은 그룹의 불량 정권입니다. 그들은 자신의 시민이나 국가의 주권을 존중하지 않습니다

If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph.  When decent people and nations become bystanders to history, the forces of destruction only gather power and strength. 많은 의인이 소수의 악인과 대항하지 않으면 악이 승리할 것입니다. 알맞은 민족과 국가가 역사의 구경꾼이 되면 파괴의 세력은 힘과 세력을 얻습니다

No one has shown more contempt for other nations and for the wellbeing of their own people than the depraved regime in North Korea.  It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans, and for the imprisonment, torture, killing, and oppression of countless more. 아무도 북한의 타락한 정권보다 다른 나라들과 자신들 국민의 복리에 대한 경멸을 더 많이 보이지 않았습니다. 수백만 명의 북한 주민들의 기아로 인한 사망자와 수많은 죄목에 대한 투옥, 고문, 살해, 억압에 책임이 있습니다.

We were all witness to the regime's deadly abuse when an innocent American college student, Otto Warmbier, was returned to America only to die a few days later.  We saw it in the assassination of the dictator's brother using banned nerve agents in an international airport.  We know it kidnapped a sweet 13-year-old Japanese girl from a beach in her own country to enslave her as a language tutor for North Korea's spies. 무고한 미국의 대학생 오토 웜비어 (Otto Warmbier)가 며칠 후에 미국으로 돌아와서 죽을 때까지 우리는 그 정권의 치명적인 학대를 목격했습니다. 우리는 독재자의 형제가 국제 공항에서 금지 된 신경 요원을 사용하여 암살당하는 것을 보았습니다. 우리는 자기 나라 해변에 있는 13 살짜리 일본 소녀를 납치해 북한 정탐꾼의 언어 가정 교사로 노예화했다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

If this is not twisted enough, now North Korea's reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles threatens the entire world with unthinkable loss of human life. 이것이 왜곡되지 않았다면, 이제 북한의 무모한 핵무기와 탄도 미사일 추구는 전 세계를 상상할 수 없는 인간의 생명을 위협하고 있습니다.

It is an outrage that some nations would not only trade with such a regime, but would arm, supply, and financially support a country that imperils the world with nuclear conflict.  No nation on earth has an interest in seeing this band of criminals arm itself with nuclear weapons and missiles. 일부 국가가 그러한 체제와 교역할뿐만 아니라, 핵무기로 세계를 위협하는 국가를 지원하고 공급하고 재정적으로 지원하는 것은 분노할 일입니다. 지구상의 어떠한 국가도 이 범죄자 집단이 핵무기와 미사일로 무장하는 것을 보는 것에 흥미있어 하는 나라는 없습니다.

The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.  Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime.  The United States is ready, willing and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary.  That’s what the United Nations is all about; that’s what the United Nations is for.  Let’s see how they do. 미국은 커다란 힘과 인내심을 가지고 있지만 스스로 또는 동맹국들을 방어해야 한다면 북한을 완전히 파괴할 수밖에 없습니다. 로켓맨(김정은)은 자신과 자신의 정권에 대한 자살 임무를 수행하고 있습니다. 미국은 준비가 되어 있고, 기꺼이 할 수 있지만, 그러나 이것이 필요하지 않기를 바랍니다. 그것이 바로 유엔이 지향하는 것입니다. 그것이 유엔의 목적입니다. 그들이 어떻게 하는지 봅시다.

It is time for North Korea to realize that the denuclearization is its only acceptable future.  The United Nations Security Council recently held two unanimous 15-0 votes adopting hard-hitting resolutions against North Korea, and I want to thank China and Russia for joining the vote to impose sanctions, along with all of the other members of the Security Council.  Thank you to all involved. 북한이 이 비핵화가 유일한 미래라는 것을 깨달을 때입니다. 유엔 안전보장 이사회는 최근 북한에 대해 강경한 결의안 채택으로 15-0표인 만장일치로 가결했습니다. 중국과 러시아가 유엔 안보리 회원국들과 함께 제재를 가하도록 투표에 응해준 것에 대해 감사드리고 싶습니다. 모든 관계자에게 감사드립니다.

But we must do much more.  It is time for all nations to work together to isolate the Kim regime until it ceases its hostile behavior. 그러나 우리는 훨씬 더 많이 해야 합니다. 적대적인 행동을 중단할 때까지 모든 국가가 김정은 정권을 고립시키기 위해 함께 일할 때입니다  

We face this decision not only in North Korea.  It is far past time for the nations of the world to confront another reckless regime -- one that speaks openly of mass murder, vowing death to America, destruction to Israel, and ruin for many leaders and nations in this room. 우리는 북한뿐 아니라 이 결정에 직면해 있습니다. 세계 여러 나라들이 대량 살상을 공개적으로 표명하고 미국에 죽음을 선언하고 이스라엘을 파괴하고 이 안에 있는 많은 지도자들과 국가들을 망치고 있는 또 다른 무모한 정권에 대항하는 것은 과거의 일입니다

The Iranian government masks a corrupt dictatorship behind the false guise of a democracy.  It has turned a wealthy country with a rich history and culture into an economically depleted rogue state whose chief exports are violence, bloodshed, and chaos.  The longest-suffering victims of Iran's leaders are, in fact, its own people. 이란 정부는 민주주의로 가장한 뒤에 부패한 독재 정부를 가리고 있습니다. 부유한 역사와 문화를 지닌 부유한 나라를 경제적으로 고갈된 불량 국가로 만들었습니다. 이 국가의 주요 수출 품목은 폭력, 유혈 사태, 혼돈이었습니다. 이란 지도자들 중 가장 길게 고통받는 희생자는 사실 자국민입니다.

Rather than use its resources to improve Iranian lives, its oil profits go to fund Hezbollah and other terrorists that kill innocent Muslims and attack their peaceful Arab and Israeli neighbors.  This wealth, which rightly belongs to Iran's people, also goes to shore up Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship, fuel Yemen's civil war, and undermine peace throughout the entire Middle East. 이란의 삶을 개선하기 위해 자원을 사용하는 대신, 석유 이익은 헤즈볼라와 무고한 이슬람 신도들을 죽이고 평화로운 아랍과 이스라엘의 이웃을 공격하는 다른 테러리스트들에게 자금을 지원하고 있습니다. 이란의 국민들에게도 이 부(富)는 또한 바샤르 알 - 아사드의 독재 정권과 예멘의 내전에 기름을 붓고 중동 전역의 평화를 약화시키고 있습니다.

We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program.  (Applause.)  The Iran Deal was one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.  Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States, and I don’t think you’ve heard the last of it -- believe me.  우리는 살상적인 체제가 위험한 미사일을 건설하는 동안 이러한 불안정한 활동을 계속하도록 만들 수 없으며, 핵 프로그램의 최종 건설을 위한 포괄적인 계획을 제공한다면 합의를 따를 수 없습니다. 이란 거래는 미국이 이제까지 입력한 가장 최악의 일방 통행 거래 중 하나였습니다. 솔직히 말해서, 그 거래는 미국에 난처한 일이며, 저는 여러분이 그 마지막 것을 들었다고 생각하지 않습니다 - 저를 믿으시기 바랍니다. 

It is time for the entire world to join us in demanding that Iran's government end its pursuit of death and destruction.  It is time for the regime to free all Americans and citizens of other nations that they have unjustly detained.  And above all, Iran's government must stop supporting terrorists, begin serving its own people, and respect the sovereign rights of its neighbors. 이란정부가 죽음과 파괴의 추구를 끝내라는 요구로 전 세계가 우리와 함께 할 때입니다. 정권이 부당하게 억류한 모든 미국인과 다른 국가의 시민을 해방시킬 때입니다. 그리고 무엇보다도 이란 정부는 테러 분자 지원을 중단하고 자국민을 섬기며 이웃 국가의 주권을 존중해야 합니다.

For decades, the United States has dealt with migration challenges here in the Western Hemisphere.  We have learned that, over the long term, uncontrolled migration is deeply unfair to both the sending and the receiving countries. 수십 년 동안 미국은 서반구에서 이주 문제를 다루었습니다. 우리는 장기적으로 통제되지 않는 이주가 파견국과 수령국 모두에게 매우 불공평하다는 것을 배웠습니다.

In some cases, states that seek to subvert this institution's noble aims have hijacked the very systems that are supposed to advance them.  For example, it is a massive source of embarrassment to the United Nations that some governments with egregious human rights records sit on the U.N. The socialist dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro has inflicted terrible pain and suffering on the good people of that country.  This corrupt regime destroyed a prosperous nation by imposing a failed ideology that has produced poverty and misery everywhere it has been tried.  To make matters worse, Maduro has defied his own people, stealing power from their elected representatives to preserve his disastrous rule. 니콜라스 마두로 (Nicolas Maduro)의 사회주의 독재 정권은 그 나라의 선량한 사람들에게 끔찍한 고통을 주었습니다. 이 부패한 정권은 시도 된 모든 곳에서 빈곤과 불행을 낳은 실패한 이데올로기를 부과함으로써 번영 국가를 파괴했습니다. 설상가상으로 마두로 총리는 자신의 국민들에게 자신의 비참한 통치를 위해 선출된 대표자들로부터 권력을 훔쳐갔습니다.

The true question for the United Nations today, for people all over the world who hope for better lives for themselves and their children, is a basic one:  Are we still patriots?  Do we love our nations enough to protect their sovereignty and to take ownership of their futures?  Do we revere them enough to defend their interests, preserve their cultures, and ensure a peaceful world for their citizens? 우리 유엔에 대한 진정한 질문은 전 세계 사람들이 자신과 자녀를 위한 더 나은 삶을 희망하는 것이 기본입니다. 우리는 여전히 애국자입니까? 우리는 주권을 보호하고 미래의 소유권을 얻기에 충분하게 우리 국가를 사랑합니까? 우리는 그들의 이익을 지키고, 문화를 보존하고, 시민들에게 평화로운 세계를 보장 할 수 있을 정도로 그들을 존중합니까?

One of the greatest American patriots, John Adams, wrote that the American Revolution was "effected before the war commenced.  The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people." 미국의 가장 위대한 애국자 중 한 사람인 존 애덤즈(John Adams)는 미국 혁명을 "전쟁이 시작되기 전에 영향을 받았다. 혁명은 국민의 마음과 마음 속에 있었다"라고 기록했습니다.

That was the moment when America awoke, when we looked around and understood that we were a nation.  We realized who we were, what we valued, and what we would give our lives to defend.  From its very first moments, the American story is the story of what is possible when people take ownership of their future. 그것은 미국이 깨어나는 순간, 우리가 둘러 보았을 때 우리가 국가라는 것을 알았을 때였습니다. 우리는 우리가 누구인지, 우리가 소중히 여기는 지, 그리고 우리의 삶을 보호하기 위해 무엇을 줄 것인지 깨달았습니다. 첫 순간부터 미국의 이야기는 사람들이 미래의 소유권을 가질 때 가능할 수 있는 이야기입니다.

The United States of America has been among the greatest forces for good in the history of the world, and the greatest defenders of sovereignty, security, and prosperity for all. 미합중국은 세계 역사상 가장 훌륭한 세력이었으며 주권, 안보 및 모든 이들을 위한 번영의 가장 큰 수호자였습니다.

Now we are calling for a great reawakening of nations, for the revival of their spirits, their pride, their people, and their patriotism. 이제 우리는 민족의 위대한 재흥, 그들의 영혼 부흥, 그들의 자존심, 국민, 애국심을 요구합니다.

History is asking us whether we are up to the task.  Our answer will be a renewal of will, a rediscovery of resolve, and a rebirth of devotion.  We need to defeat the enemies of humanity and unlock the potential of life itself. 역사가 우리에게 과제 수행 여부를 묻습니다. 우리의 대답은 의지의 갱신, 결단의 재발견, 헌신의 거듭남이 될 것입니다. 우리는 인류의 적을 물리쳐 생명의 잠재력을 열어야 합니다.

Our hope is a word and world of proud, independent nations that embrace their duties, seek friendship, respect others, and make common cause in the greatest shared interest of all:  a future of dignity and peace for the people of this wonderful Earth. 우리의 희망은 이 멋진 지구의 사람들을 위한 존엄과 평화의 미래인 모든 사람들의 최대의 관심사에서 직무를 포용하고 우정을 찾으며 다른 사람들을 존중하고 공감대를 형성하는 자랑스러운 독립 국가의 단어이자 자랑스러운 세계입니다.

This is the true vision of the United Nations, the ancient wish of every people, and the deepest yearning that lives inside every sacred soul. 이것은 유엔의 진정한 비전, 모든 사람들의 고대 소망, 모든 성스러운 영혼 속에 살고있는 가장 깊은 열망입니다

So let this be our mission, and let this be our message to the world:  We will fight together, sacrifice together, and stand together for peace, for freedom, for justice, for family, for humanity, and for the almighty God who made us all.  그러므로 이것이 우리의 사명이 되게 하며, 우리가 함께 싸우고 희생하며 평화와 자유와 정의와 가족과 인류와 우리 모두를 창조하신 전능하신 하나님을 위하여 함께 할 것입니다.
