새해를 맞을 때마다 우리는 수많은 비전과 계획을 세운다. 그런데 크리스천이라고 하는 거듭난 성도라면, 우리를 통하여 일하실 우리의 창조자이며 구원자이며 우리의 모든 것이 되시는 그분과 그분의 계획을 아는 것이 우선 순위가 되어야 한다.
"영생은 곧 유일하신 참 하나님과 그의 보내신 자 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이니이다"(요 17:3)
우리의 능력은 오직 성령을 받았을 때에만 나온다. 우리의 모든 지혜와 힘과 권세는 위로부터 빛들의 아버지로부터 내려오는 것이며, 그것만이 우리 자신과 우리의 가정과 교회와 국가와 온세상을 구원의 길로 인도한다.
다음은 미국의 어린이들이 성경을 읽기 위하여 먼저 각 성경이 우리에게 말씀하고 있는 주제와 성경 전체의 주제에 대해 이해하고 읽을 수 있도록 하는 방법이다. 이 내용을 미국의 어린이들은 어린 시절부터 외우고 있는데, 이 내용은 성경은 오직 예수 그리스도를 말씀하고 있다는 것을 말하고 있어서 성경을 모르고 이것만 외우더라도 예수 그리스도께서 어떤 분이신지 확실히 알게 된다.
어린 시절부터 자신을 창조하시고 인생을 이끌어가시며 역사하시는 하나님에 대해 알도록 하는 이러한 교육이 바로 전세계를 이끌어가는 미국의 힘이다.
