GMC(Global Mission Center)가 지난 2월 22일부터 25일까지 태국 방콕에서 제2차 GMC선교대회(The Second Global Mission Conference)를 개최하였다.

The Story on the Foreign Mission Work in the World” 라는 주제로 열린 이 선교대회는 제40차 세계선교를 마친 송웅호 선교사가 많은 기독교지도자들과의 깊은 대화를 통하여 느낀 결론에서 비롯되었다. 그것은 곧 21세기 성공적인 선교의 방향이 바르게 정리되어야 한다는 것이었다. 이 선교대회에서 각 나라 기독교지도자들의 발표를 통하여 성공적인 선교방법이 무엇인지를 깨닫게 되었다. 

그것은 “많은 교회들이 교회를 세워주고 물질적으로 후원을 하는 것으로 선교의 사명을 감당한다고 생각하지만 지속적인 후원이 없어 빈 교회와 돼지 우리로 전락해버린 곳이 많다”고 안타까워하면서 “선교란 무엇인가?를 다시 생각하게 됐다”는 것이다. 그래서 내린 결론은 현지인을 변화시켜 일꾼을 길러내고 그들 스스로 자신의 민족 복음화를 위해 사역하는 전략으로 바뀌어야 한다는 것이다.

아래는 송웅호 선교사의 개회사 전문이다.(The Opening Address of 2nd Mission Conference)

Dear delegates!

I appreciate to you which attend at the second mission conference. Before publishing the book of 2nd mission conference, I read your papers several times. And I understood and learnt many things of the work of foreign missionaries in your country. Thank you for your papers.

The book of 2nd mission conference will become very good material of mission work and will give ones who want to be a missionary helping and guiding for successful mission work in the 21st century.

Through God's grace I was able to complete 40 missions in Asia and Israel and trained over 5000 Christian leaders through spiritual discipleship training and the doctrines of Jesus. It was blessing to bring people to God through spiritual discipleship training and Jesus' doctrine. Throughout my eight years of mission, I contacted many Christian leaders in the world to see how they were introducing people to God. Mission of Christianity is to spread the gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ and teach true His teachings into all the world. I found this mission lost in the wrong direction, which led me to the creation of Global Mission Center.

True mission goal is to make disciples of Jesus and to teach His doctrines rightly from the locals and continue spiritual growth. During my mission, I saw that many missionaries lost sight of this goal. I also found empty and useless church buildings built by past missionaries. Today many churches continue to build churches in the mission field, without creating disciples of Jesus and teaching true His doctrines. Local Christian leaders need more than just a building. Missionaries should need with local Christian leaders to discuss and customize successful mission work. Many missionaries from outside countries do not create local disciples of Jesus, do not teach true His doctrines, and do not maintain spiritual growth of local leaders, focus on creating church buildings rather than creating true disciples of Jesus and teaching true His doctrines.

Finally I have prayed to meet mission conference. God gave me good chance which could meet 2nd mission conference through elder, Jong-rae Kim.

Thank you for his donation. And we need to discuss successful mission work in the 21st century and let's go to search true way for successful mission work. Glorify His name and praise the Lord. Thank you.

비자 발급 때문에 많이 힘드셨죠? 한국에서 기다리는 우리들도 노심초사했습니다. 바라기는, 하나님 나라의 일꾼으로 세계 어디를 가든지 무사통과 할 수 있길 간절히 바랍니다.

It must be hard to be issued a visa. We also worried about you while we’re waiting in Korea. I hope you easily pass wherever you go as a servant of God.

저는 감리교회의 창시자인 John Wesley 목사의 설교 중에, “할 수 있는 대로 많이 벌어라”(Gain all as you can!), "할 수 있는 대로 많이 저축하라" (Save all as you can!), 그리고 "할 수 있는 대로 많이 주라" (Give all as you can!)고 하신 말씀이 제 마음에 큰 감동이 되어 이 말씀을 항상 가슴에 안고 살아가고 있습니다.

I was really impressed by the preachment of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, “Gain all as you can! Save all as you can! and Give all as you can!”, and I’m always living with this word.

마태복음 6장 19절-20절에 예수님은 산상수훈에 관한 설교말씀을 하시면서 “너희는 자신을 위해 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말고 하늘에 쌓아 두라” 고 말씀하셨습니다.

In Matthew 6:19-20, Jesus said while preaching about the Sermon on the Mount, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”

제가 자랑스럽게 여기는 CBMC(한국기독실업인회) 멤버들과 자주 갖는 Forum 에서도 “우리는 재물의 소유주가 아니라 하나님이 주신 청지기로서 행동해야한다. 그리고 돈을 다룰 때 이 돈의 소유주는 하나님이시고 우리는 돈을 맡은 청지기에 불과하다는 사실을 항상 기억해야한다.”는 말씀을 가지고 형제들과 자주 대화를 나누곤 합니다.

In forum we occasionally hold with CBMC members I’m proud of, we often talk about the word “We must act as a manager, not an owner of wealth. We must always remember when we deal with money, God is the owner of this money and we are just managers who take care of it.”

지난 해 4월(2011년) 송웅호선교사님을 쫓아 네팔 선교지에 제 아내와 함께 다녀왔습니다. 그때 내게 성령의 뜨거운 감동이 임하였으며, 이 일을 계획하게 되었습니다. 저의 집안은 4대가 기독교인이요 저의 할아버님은 6.25 동란 시 인천 논현교회 장로님 이셨는데 순교하셨습니다.

Last November(2011), my wife and I went to mission field in Nepal with missionary Rev. Uzzy W Song. At that time the holy spirit moved me and made me plan this work. My family have been Christian for four generations and my grandfather was the elder Nonhyeon church in Incheon and became a martyr during the Korean war.

아주 오래전 우리 가문에 이름도 성도 모르는 미국인 선교사님이 오셔서 예수그리스도의 복음을 전해주신 그 은혜를 갚아야 한다고 생각했습니다. 그리고 일터의 사역자로서 하나님 나라 확장을 위해서는 더 많은 일을 해야 한다고 다짐했습니다. 그 마음의 작은 결실이 오늘 여러분을 초대하여 이 선교대회를 가지게 된 것입니다.

A long time ago an american missionary whose name I don’t even know came to our family and preached the Gospel. I thought I must repay the favor and I promised myself to do a lot more work for expanding the realm of God as a minister. That little determination invites you to hold this mission conference.

저는 여러분의 이름도 얼굴도 모릅니다. 그러나 저에게 여러분을 기꺼이 섬길 수 있는 마음과 행함을 허락하여 주신 성령님께 감사와 영광을 돌립니다.

I don’t know your name or face, but I give this thanks and glory to the Holy Spirit allowing me to willingly serve you.

무사히 한국에 오신 여러분들을 다시금 환영하면서.....머무시는 동안 주님의 사랑과, 형제, 자매의 사랑을 듬뿍 받으시고 평안하시길 바랍니다.
