아브라함이 아침에 일찍이 일어나 나귀에 안장을 지우고 두 종과 그의 아들 이삭을 데리고 번제에 쓸 나무를 쪼개어 가지고 떠나 하나님이 자기에게 일러 주신 곳으로 가더니. (창세기 22:3)
4일 아침(낮)입니다.
아들을 번제물로 바치라는 하나님의 명령에 순종한 아브라함이었지만 바로 그 밤은 아브라함과 사라 노부부에겐 감당하기 어려운 초극강의 고통과 시련이었습니다. 순종의 사람이라 해서 그의 모리아 산행이 순탄했으리라 단정하는 것은 무리입니다. 온전한 순종의 길은 늘 어렵고 힘이 듭니다. 그들도 갈등과 번뇌로 심장이 터질 지경이었을 것입니다. 결국 남편을 “주님”처럼 섬기던 “여주”(女主) 사라는 아브라함의 신앙적 결단에 동조했고 이 극적인 순종을 통해 여호와이레의 위대한 역사가 생겨났습니다. 갈등과 자기 포기의 밤을 지내고 맞이한 새 아침에 위대한 순종의 서사시가 쓰이고 있었습니다.
“주님, 오늘 하루를 시작하면서 다른 날들과 달리 더 큰 희생과 아픔에 임해야 한다 할지라도 물러나지 않겠습니다. 주님의 선한 의지를 믿기에 힘차게 나아가렵니다. 마지못해서가 아니라 하나님 신뢰에 기반을 둔 용단으로 나아가게 하옵소서! 도살장으로 끌려가는 양이 아니라 하나님이 일러주신 곳이기에 그보다 더 한 환경이라 해도 마주치게 하옵소서! 이삭처럼 돌려받지 못할지라도 죽으면 죽으리라던 에스더의 마음처럼 스스로를 다잡게 하옵소서!”
4. Life of obedience beyond death
Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. (Genesis 22:3)
It's morning (daytime) on Day 4.
Abraham obeyed God's command to offer his son as a burnt offering, but that very night proved to be a night of extreme pain and trial for Abraham and Sarah. For a man of obedience, it would be unreasonable to assume that his walk up Mount Moriah would have been smooth. The path of perfect obedience is always difficult and demanding. And their hearts must have been bursting with conflict and anguish. In the end, Sarah, the "mistress" who served her husband as "lord," agreed with Abraham's faithful decision, and it was through this dramatic obedience that the great history of Jehovah's Witnesses was born. In the new morning after a night of conflict and self-abandonment, a great epic of obedience was being written.
"Lord, as I begin this day, I will not back down, even if it requires me to make greater sacrifices and suffer more than I have on other days. I will press on, trusting in your good will. May we go not grudgingly, but with a heart that is grounded in trust in you. May we not be sheep being led to the slaughter, but may we face circumstances that are worse than that because they are where you have led us. May we prepare ourselves, like Isaac, to die even though we may not be returned, or like Esther's heart, to die if we die!"
4. 기적의 인도하심으로 채워지는 삶
여호와께서 그들 앞에서 가시며 낮에는 구름기둥으로 그들의 길을 인도하시고 밤에는 불기둥을 그들에게 비추사 낮이나 밤이나 진행하게 하시니 낮에는 구름기둥, 밤에는 불기둥이 백성 앞에서 떠나지 아니하니라. 낮에는 구름기둥, 밤에는 불기둥이 백성 앞에서 떠나지 아니하니라. (출애굽기 13:21-22)
4일 저녁(밤)입니다.
출애굽의 여정은 기적의 연속이었습니다. 낮의 구름기둥과 밤의 불기둥은 실로 장관이었습니다. 광야 40년 동안 불기둥, 구름기둥이 없었다면 가나안 복지에 도달하기까지 더 오래 걸리고 험난한 과정을 많이 거쳐야 했을 것입니다. 밤의 가장 깊은 중심으로 들어가야 한다 해도 걱정할 필요가 없는 것은 불기둥이 비쳐주기 때문입니다. 이스라엘을 떠나지 않은 구름기둥과 불기둥처럼 주님은 세상 끝 날까지 우리와 함께하시며 떠나지 않으십니다.
오늘 내가 밤을 싫어하는 것은 불기둥의 존재를 느끼지 못해서입니다. 구름기둥과 불기둥은 하나님 존재의 그림자이며 하나님 임재의 구체화입니다. 구름기둥과 불기둥은 이스라엘 백성이 나아가고 머무르는 이유였습니다. 과연 구름기둥과 불기둥이 무엇이었을까? 그 실체를 밝히려는 노력들이 있었지만 표현 그대로 하나는 하얀색의 구름기둥이요 다른 하나는 붉은 색의 불기둥입니다. 무엇을 상징하는지 여러 해석이 있지만 임재를 통해 구원의 역사를 이루시며 보호, 역사하시는 말씀과 성령으로 이해합니다.
“주님! 말씀과 성령이 오늘의 구름기둥, 불기둥입니다. 그것들로 광야 같은 세상에서의 삶을 올바르게 이끌어 주시옵소서! 오늘 하루 동안 보이지 않았지만 주님은 사사건건 구름기둥을 옮겨주셨습니다. 이 밤에는 불기둥의 온기로 제 영혼과 육신을 감싸주시옵소서! 그렇게 광야를 지나간 이스라엘 백성들처럼 굴곡진 세상의 험로를 지나가게 하옵소서! 두 기둥의 현존과 함께 제 평생의 길을 걸어가게 하옵소서!”
4. Life filled with miraculous guidance
By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. (Exodus 13:21-22)
It's evening (night) on Day 4.
The journey of the Exodus was one of miracles. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night were spectacular. Without the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud during the 40 years in the wilderness, it would have been a much longer and more arduous journey to reach the welfare of Canaan. Even if we had to go into the deepest center of the night, we would not have to worry because the pillar of fire would shine on us. Like the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire that never left Israel, the Lord is with us to the end of the age and will not leave us. If
I hate the night tonight, it is because I do not feel the presence of the pillar of fire. The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire are the shadow of God's presence, the embodiment of God's presence. The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire were the reason for the Israelites to go and stay. There have been efforts to determine what the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire were, but literally, one is a white pillar of cloud and the other is a red pillar of fire. There are many interpretations of what they symbolize, but we understand them to be the Word and the Holy Spirit, whose presence protects, works, and saves.
"Lord! The Word and the Holy Spirit are today's pillars of cloud and fire. With two pillars, please guide me to lead a correct life in the wilderness-like world! Just as you have moved the unseen pillar of cloud during today, please cover my soul and body with the warmth of the pillars of fire this night! Like the Israelites who passed through the wilderness, help me to walk the path of my life, too. Let me walk the path of my life with the presence of the two pillars!"
