30. 어둠을 이기는 빛의 삶
또한 너희가 이 시기를 알거니와 자다가 깰 때가 벌써 되었으니 이는 이제 우리의 구원이 처음 믿을 때보다 가까웠음이라. 밤이 깊고 낮이 가까웠으니 그러므로 우리가 어둠의 일을 벗고 빛의 갑옷을 입자. 낮에와 같이 단정히 행하고 방탕하거나 술 취하지 말며 음란하거나 호색하지 말며 다투거나 시기하지 말고 오직 주 예수 그리스도로 옷 입고 정욕을 위하여 육신의 일을 도모하지 말라. (로마서 13:11-14)
30일 아침(낮)입니다.
동면이 길어지면 죽음이 뒤따릅니다. 이제는 생명의 기운과 함께 깨어날 때가 되었습니다. 밤이 깊었음은 새벽이 멀지 않고 낮이 가깝다는 증거입니다. 빛의 자녀들은 낮에 옷을 입고 행합니다. 그들이 걸치는 옷은 그리스도 자신인 빛의 갑옷입니다. 죄로 더러워진 누더기 같은 옷을 벗어버리고 의의 세마포로 갈아입은 성도들은 죄로 인해 오염되지 않도록 부단히 자신의 영혼을 살펴야 합니다. 세상에 만연한 더러움과 중독, 성적 난잡함과 싸움은 자칫 방심한 영혼에게 치명타를 날립니다. 티끌 같은 먼지 하나, 자그마한 뿌리 하나처럼 우리가 간과했던 작은 죄가 구원의 발목을 잡습니다. 경성하지 못한 자의 흐릿한 정신이, 미지근한 영성이, 정돈되지 않은 생각이, 상스러운 말에 더해 영혼의 근육을 무기력하게 만들어버립니다.
“주님, 제가 사는 시대를 정확히 분별케 하옵소서! 시대정신을 파악케 하시며 역사의 조류를 안팎으로 살피게 하옵소서! 전도자를 통해 설파하셨던 때를 이 시점에서 재음미하게 하옵소서! 어둠이 빛에 함몰되어버릴 때가 가까워올수록 밤의 난동은 도를 더할 것입니다. 저들의 급습에서 제 영혼을 지켜주시며 무차별 공격에 상처 입지 않게 하옵소서! 영혼을 망하게 할 현상들을 경고하려면 제가 먼저 온전히 깨어 있어야 하오니 경성의 은혜를 겹겹이 허락해 주시옵소서!”
30. Life of overcoming darkness with light
And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. (Romans 13:11-14)
It's morning (daytime) on Day 30.
When hibernation is prolonged, death follows. It is time to awaken with the spirit of life. The fact that the night is long is proof that the dawn is not far off and the day is near. The children of light walk in the daytime clothed; the garment they put on is the armor of light, which is Christ himself. Having cast off the rags of sin and changed into the fine linen of righteousness, the saints must diligently examine their souls to ensure that they are not contaminated by sin. The filth, addictions, sexual promiscuity, and strife that are rampant in the world are a death blow to the unguarded soul. One tiny speck of dust, one tiny root, one tiny sin that we have overlooked can be the death knell of our salvation. The clouded mind of the ungodly, lukewarm spirituality, disorganized thoughts, and hurtful words add up to make the muscles of the soul lethargic.
"Lord, grant that I may discern the times (Zeitgeist) in which I live; that I may grasp the spirit of the age; that I may look inward and outward upon the tides of history; that I may relish at this time the times which you preached through your evangelist! The nearer the time draws near when the darkness will be engulfed by the light, the more will the tumult of the night increase. Protect my soul from their swoops, and leave me unscathed by their indiscriminate assaults; grant me the grace of vigilance, for I must be fully awake before I can warn them of soul-destroying developments!"
30. 갱신력과 복원력을 강화하는 삶
낮에 성문들을 도무지 닫지 아니하리니 거기에는 밤이 없음이라. (계시록 21:25)
30일 저녁(밤)입니다.
새 예루살렘은 성문이 항상 열려 있습니다. 하루가 밤이 없는 낮으로만 되어 있기에 성문을 열고 닫음이 불필요해서입니다. 밤의 중요한 기능 중 하나는 수면인데 밤이 없으니 이곳에서는 잠도 없습니다. 죄가 없으면 잠이 필요 없습니다. 그래서 무죄 상태의 천국은 잠이 존재하지 않습니다. 밤이 없음은 그 단적인 예입니다. 구속함 받은 성도라 할지라도 죄 된 육체 가운데 거하는 한 밤이 하루의 반을 지배하는 세상에 거하면서 죽을 때까지 잠과 깸의 과정을 반복해야 합니다.
제가 어떤 형편과 처지, 환경과 상황에서도 숙면을 기대할 수 있음은 졸지도 주무시지도 않으시는 주님이 인생의 숱한 난제와 근심거리들을 관장하시고 깨어 저를 지키시기 때문입니다. 한없이 고맙고 감사합니다. 내일이 되면 내일이 걱정할 것이기에 내일 일을 걱정할 필요가 없습니다.
“주님, 아직은 곤한 육신을 쉬게 할 잠이 필요하옵고 새 날을 위한 기력이 요구되옵니다. 이 밤 제게 필요한 것은 대단한 기적이 아니라 간의 재생력과 용수철의 복원력 같이 하나님이 인간 영혼에 심어놓으신 환원 능력입니다. 하나님이 만드셨던 ‘본래 상태로 돌아갈 힘’을 부어 주옵소서! 그리 될 줄 믿고 편안한 마음으로 잠자리에 들렵니다.”
30. Life strengthening renewal and restoration power
On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. (Revelation 21:25)
It's evening (night) on day 30.
The gates of New Jerusalem are always open. This is because there is no need to open and close the gates because there is only one day with no night. One of the important functions of night is sleep, and since there is no night, there is no sleep here. If there is no sin, there is no need for sleep, so in a state of innocence, sleep does not exist. The absence of night is a clear example of that. Even redeemed saints, as long as they dwell in sinful flesh, they must repeat the process of sleeping and waking until they die, living in a world where night rules half the day.
The reason I can look forward to a good night's sleep in any situation, circumstance, environment, or circumstance is because the Lord, who neither dozes nor sleeps, watches over me and keeps me awake through life's myriad challenges and cares. For this I am eternally grateful and thankful. I don't have to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about tomorrow.
"Lord, I still need sleep to rest my weary body, and strength for the new day. What I need this night is not a great miracle, but the rejuvenating power you have implanted in the human soul, like the regenerative power of the liver and the resilience of a spring. Give me the strength to 'return to the way God made me'! I go to bed at night knowing that I will."
